Job Description

Jacobs Douwe Egberts Research and Development (R&D) is part of the Global JDE organization.

R&D is the major contributor to the development of innovative coffee, tea, cereal and NDC

products and is constantly optimizing the product portfolio. Focus of R&D is on building

technology platforms, new products, portfolio renovations and productivity initiatives. Projects

are carried out together with Marketing, Operations and Procurement delivering Product and

Packaging Specifications which are the single most critical output of R&D.

 

The PLM Specialist reports into the PLM Team Lead. They are responsible for maintenance of an

effective and efficient specification system for product lifecycle management. They support the

R&D team in their work developing new specifications. They are a data custodian and thanks to

their actions the PLM system is trustworthy and data contained therein is a strategic R&D asset.

This individual is responsible for part of the total portfolio and is expected to become the subject-

matter expert for their area of the PLM system.

  • Typical project portfolio: Multiple activities across all aspects of the Product / Pack portfolio
  • Financial risk: Moderate – Role responsible for maintenance not creation of new specification data. Technical rigour is however critical to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Geographical Scope: varies

The PLM Specialist is part of the team responsible for the maintenance of the PLM system within APAC and will support the implementation of the new PLM Software. You will be responsible for assuring quality and trust in the data and be the first point of contact for data-related questions in your field. You will work closely with R&D developers and PLM users to maintain PLM data flow throughout the specification lifecycle, enrich data, provide feedback to users and drivesystem improvement. You are the PLM data custodian, and thanks to your action, the PLM system is trustworthy and data used as a strategic R&D asset.

This requires technical rigor, attention to detail and a relentless drive for completion with excellence. This role plays a critical role in the maintenance, protection and utilisation of a critical R&D asset (our recipe know-how and IP). This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures related to specifications, leveraging best in class practices throughout all R&D activities and helping to support speed to market.

  • Support the implementation of the new PLM Software, user acceptance test and user support

  • Ensure successful migration of the data into the new PLM software: migration, validation, completeness

  • Collaborate with specification creators within your area of responsibility, to guarantee the completeness and accuracy of product data until product retirement

  • Ensure the maintenance of the product data (new data entry, parameter updates, new requirements)

  • Monitor data quality periodically, raise gaps and coordinate issue resolution

  • With guidance from manager, drive PLM system continuous improvement (design, workflow, data quality)

  • Support PLM users about data extraction and reporting

  • Act as data custodian and make PLM the system loved by the users and fun

  • Communicate and support best practice PLM completion with APAC applications teams for all categorie

  • Reports to Manager on a weekly basis highlighting risks/issues and resolution plans

  • Other tasks/duties as assigned by the Manager

Qualifications

Here's what we're looking for: 

Education:

  • Education in Food Science or Engineering or Food-related technical field (e.g., Biochemistry, Chemistry, Nutrition)

Experience:

Must Have:

  • Min.2 years track record with product development & innovation or process technologies in the food industry (R&D and Operations)

  • Good communication skills in English and Bahasa or Mandarin - Knowledge/experience of specification systems

  • Experience using relevant software tools (Excel, Sharepoint) and data processing

  • Broad technical knowledge of food categories, processes, ingredients and formulae

  • Sound understanding of HACCP food safety, legal, environmental and regulatory parameters

  • Strong organization and project management skills and highly detail oriented

  • Ability to work remotely/autonomously

  • Customer service mindset

Nice To Have:

  • Willingness to develop knowledge with data analytic tools
  • Product tasting experience
  • Experience in manufacturing, process engineering, food safety, product/process design and commercialization.
